  • What is KDI?

    The Knowledge Discovery Infrastructure (KDI) is a platform to enable advanced computing and data analysis for protected data research. KDI is a multi-tenant enclave hosted by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

  • How do  I get access to KDI?

    Contact your project principal investigator, project manager, or coordinating center. They can start the onboarding process for you.

  • How do I check my onboarding status?

    Send an email to [email protected].

  • How do I contact KDI Support for help?

    KDI Support is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Eastern), Monday through Friday, excluding ORNL-recognized holidays. To submit a KDI Support request, please email [email protected].

      1. Use your Project Sponsor—provided email address. We cannot accept tickets from email addresses not belonging to the project sponsor.
      2. Ensure the subject line does not contain “RE:”, “FW:”,  or “FWD:”
      3. Please include as much information as you can about your request:
        1. Username.
        2. Project name.
        3. Machine hostnames.
        4. Database names.
        5. Complete error messages or path to saved error output.
        6. Detailed information about the problem as well as the steps to reproduce the issue.

  • How do I request a software or tool ingress?

    Submit the request to [email protected]. Include the following information:

      1. Project name or number.
      2. Software name.
      3. Version requested—if it is not the most current version, please provide justification as to why.
      4. Source URL.
      5. License type and license or use agreement URL.
      6. Operating System (OS) required by the software package.
      7. Justification: Why do you need this software?
      8. If there is software in the environment that provides the same functionality, provide justification as to why this is required instead of the available solution.

  • How do I request an egress?

    Submit the request to [email protected]. Include the following information:

      1. Path to files—combine all files into a single folder.
      2. Short summary of file format and what they contain.
      3. Confirmation that you have taken due diligence to ensure these files are free of protected data.
      4. Requested date of egress completion.

  • How can I view the software catalog?

    To receive a copy of the current KDI software catalog, submit a request to [email protected].

  •  I no longer need my KDI account(s), whom should I inform?

    As soon as you know you are leaving a project, send an email to your principal investigator/project manager and [email protected] to start the offboarding process.
